Rare Monsters are Minor Enemies who appear in random battles but are immune to Instant Death. They possess several traits which make them unique compared to typical Enemies:
- Each has only 4 to 6 HP, but possess a special resistance that reduces most damage to 1.
- Their attacks deal 10% of their target's max HP as physical damage. This uses a different formula than standard attacks which bypasses stats like defense, and is only affected by the modifiers "Guarding" and "target has Fear."
- Even at full health they have a chance to "Run away!"
- Rewards for defeating these enemies are typically much greater than those of normally encountered enemies.
Traits that set Rare Monsters apart from one another are described in their own pages.
- For powerful enemies immune to all status effects, encountered through scripted events, and can only be confronted once, see Bosses.
- For enemies who appear exclusively within a Boss encounter, see Boss Minions.
