His rule over Serdio was broken when the northern region declared his nephew, [[Albert]], to be next in line of succession over Doel, despite being only six at the time. The Commander of the Sandora also seemed to be a good man, who helps the party out in an effort to stabilize the land and end the war, and even went on to become a very well respected mayor of Kazas. The fact that The Commander believed in Doel, and claimed he only became bloodthiursty after a mysterious figure began to pull at his strings, giving further credence to the idea that Doel's intentions, if not his actions were good.
