Instructions (General)

  1. Check whether your target article has already been created. You may use the search bar, or browse the full list of articles. If the article already exists, check the progress made so far. Click "Edit" in the upper-right nav-panel to make changes. If the article does not exist yet, the wiki will tell you that it can be created; click the red link. Either way, you will be brought to the plain-text editor.
  2. In the editor, try to get into the habit of clicking Show Preview and Show Changes to check your edits before committing them to the site. The former helps you catch additional errors, and the latter shows a side-by-side comparison of what is changing between the latest revision and your edits.
  3. Know the difference between headcanon, rumors, and actual canon. In this fandom, false statements have in some cases pervaded for 20 years without question due to lack of information or belief of an old rumor. Do your best to verify any information that seems strange or unfamiliar to you. Check with additional fans, wiki colleagues, or play the game to corroborate results where possible. It's okay to be mistaken, so keep pride in check along the way.

Creating New Articles

  1. Identify which type of page you are creating:
    1. Location: Insert the following code on the first line exactly as follows: {{subst:Location}}. On the next line, put [[Category:Disc X]] where X is the game disc that the location is initially discovered by the player.
    2. Player Character: Insert the following code on the first line exactly as follows: {{subst:PlayerCharacter}}.
  2. Scroll down and add "Created Page with template." to the Summary field. Click Show Preview to see how the template will be injected. Then, click Save Page.
  3. You will be brought to the newly-created article. The substitution tag we applied in step 2 incorporates the template into the current article. Relevant section headers and infoboxes are placed in the intended order for your convenience, letting you focus a bit more on adding the core contents: story, combat data, and so on.
  4. Click "Edit" in the upper-right (to the left of the search bar) to get back to the plain-text editor and resume your work. Follow the general guide above. For additional direction, review the instructions provided in comment tags for each section header.
  5. A [[Category:Missing Information]] tag is included in the template. This makes it much easier for the editing team to see which articles and pages still require attention over time. Before removing this tag, check with the wiki team to make sure an agreement is reached one way or another.
