  • side panel should have an image, list of present services if any (save point, rest area, shops), minor mobs, and stardust if any. Bosses should be mentioned, but details and strategy should be left to that boss's own article.
  • Occasional image thumbnails may be suitable, but we might want a set image location at the beginning of the article, similar to the standard for minor mobs.
  • Stardust is not yet in the current template. Seeking feedback on where to place this section for location articles that would need stardust to be listed.

Literal Instructions

These are the literal steps that should be taken, and can be considered the latest revision of such instructions.

  1. Create a new location article by typing its exact name into the search box in the upper-right, and press enter. If the article doesn't exist yet, click the red link displayed prominently. This brings you to the plain-text editor. Any words or code inserted here will go towards this new article.
  2. Insert the following code on the first line exactly as follows: '''{{subst:Template (with combat)}}''' for locations with combat present, and '''{{subst:Location (no combat)}}''' for locations that do not have combat. After that, put '''[[Category: Disc X]]''' where X is the game disc that the location is initially discovered by the player.
  3. Scroll down and add "New article with shell layout." to the Summary field. Click Save Changes. Optionally, you are encouraged to click Show Preview before that to see how the page will look before committing to the update you have entered in. This can help you catch honest typos and errors ahead of time. Show Changes helps you see the difference between the existing version and your changes, but this is meant for working with existing articles.
  4. If successful, you will be brought to the newly-created article. The substitution tag we applied in step 2 incorporates the content from the template it called. Relevant section headers and infoboxes are placed in the intended order for your convenience, letting you focus a bit more on adding the core contents: story, combat data, etc.
  5. Click "Edit" in the upper-right (to the left of the search bar) to get back to the plain-text editor and resume your work. Follow the general guide above for additional notes. Try to get into the habit of clicking Show Preview and Show Changes to check your edits before committing them to the site.
  6. To-do: Merge the two location templates into a single template. Any locations without combat can be handled by importing the unison template, then deleting the combat section.
