Carlo

Carlo ruled Serdio as king until 20 years ago when he was murdered by his younger brother: Doel. His death split the country, as half denounced Doel's claim to the throne for having murdered the previous king and instead felt Carlo's son Albert should inherit the throne despite being only six years old. While little is known of his policies, most citizens of Basil seem to remember Carlo positively, while some in Sandora say he was killed for good reasons. Midwife Gilda in Hoax recounts that Carlo and Doel used to be good brothers, and is uncertain what could have driven them apart.

Once Carlo named the then 6-year-old Albert as heir to the throne, he and Doel had a falling out. While not quite a dictatorship, Carlo's administration was not necessarily "for the people," either, and Doel's rebellion was supported by those dissatisfied with Carlo.
