The Black Castle is Emperor Doel's seat of power. It looms above Sandora's capital city Kazas, in the south east of Serdio. Within it's walls Imperial Sandora plots conquest, fueled by magic strong enough to control the dragon Freybrand.

The Black Castle is a gone forever location. You can't return to Kazas after talking to Popo and climbing into the cavern area, and you can't return to the Black Castle after defeating Doel. Be sure to get everything you want while you are here. The Material Shield is a unique repeat item, this is your only chance to collect it.  The Beast Fang is a nice pickup as its a good weapon for Haschel at this point in the game. There is no stardust in the Black Castle itself, however there are six pieces back in Kazas (you can collect for them later).

Most enemies in the Black Castle appear on screen (a few encounters are scripted or forced). When the player walks too close they whistle and run at you. Battle starts on contact. The Sandora Elite has his own model. While not nearly as tough as his Hoax version, he almost counts as a mini-boss.
