Dart is a young warrior from the village of Seles. He has a chestnut fringe-cut paired with blue eyes. Having just returned from a five-year journey seeking the one responsible for his parents' death, he returns to find soldiers of Imperial Sandora and a Dragon; along with his home in ruins.
Story
Chapter 1: Serdian War
After the opening FMV, Dart Feld is introduced; Sitting down, taking a break on his return home, reading the headline of a paper that says "Chance of war more likely". This is further reinforced when Dart hears the pounding of hoofs on a well-traveled forest path not far from the rock he is on. Moving to investigate, he cuts off the advance of two soldiers who were lagging behind the primary force that passed by. An abrupt exchange is halted between them when the dragon Feyrbrand is added into the mix. The two soldiers scatter, and Dart is left to fend for himself, only to be saved moments later by Rose who grabs him and pulls him out of the sights of Feyrbrand. With the dragon unable to locate Dart, it moves on. This allows for a short conversation between Dart and Rose. This conversation spurs him to run to Seles, his hometown, as she mentions that his village is much too small to warrant the need of a dragon.
Coming over a hill, Dart is met with the sight of Seles smoldering from an overnight raid on the village. From here on is where Dart's involvement is cemented into the story.

Combat
Starting at level 1, Dart is an all-around combatant having average stats and a balanced set of additions. He is introduced at level 1. Often, his AT, DF, MAT, and MDF will be within a few points of each other. While he is not specialized, Dart will still prove to be capable in most combat situations.
Stats
While Attack (AT), Defense (DF), Magic Attack (MAT), and Magic Defense (MDF) increase when leveling up, Speed (SPD), Attack Hit (A-Hit), Magic Hit (M-Hit), Attack Avoid (A-AV), and Magic Avoid (M-AV) do not. All characters possess 100% for A-Hit and M-Hit, and 0% for A-AV and M-AV; any increase to these four stats comes from Equipment.

Dragoon Form
Main article: Dragoon
Dart can deal fair damage with both his physical attack and spells. The Red-Eye Dragoon's magic will focus on offense, featuring a mixture of both single-target and AoE abilities.
D'levels
SP thresholds to increase D'level and stat bonuses while in Dragoon form are shown in the table below.
| D'Level | SP Req. | AT | DF | MAT | MDF |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | -- | 150% | 200% | 150% | 200% |
| 2 | 1,200 | 155% | 210% | 155% | 210% |

| 5 | 20,000 | 170% | 250% | 170% | 250% |
Abilities
All Dragoons can use either their D'Attack or Magic during combat. For an in depth explanation of Dragoon Additions including damage formulas, see: D'Attack. Similarly, Dragoon Magic covers the damage formula for spells.
Note: The "STR %" shown when selecting spells in game is not used in the damage calculation. Instead they could be used to gauge the strength of spells in relation to one another for that specific character, but some of the values contain errors and so generally cannot be considered reliable. The Multiplier value for the spells below is the actual variable used in the damage calculation.
| D'Level | Name | MP Cost | Effects |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Flameshot | 10 | 200% (Single) |
| 2 | Explosion | 20 | 100% (All) |
| 3 | Final Burst | 30 | 300% (Single) |
| 5 | Red-Eye Dragon | 80 | 300% (All) |

Trivia
- While Dart is the field character, standing still for a time will cause his idle animation to play. He will cross his arms and tap his foot on the ground, as if to show that he's waiting to proceed.
- When dispirited in combat, his idle animation will put his arms to each side, hanging downward along with his sword.
- At the point of "red" HP, he will be down on one knee with sword angled to the ground behind him.
- There is a leftover "beta" character model of Dart for use on field maps, with orange armor and lower overall resolution. This model is actually used in at least one in-game cutscene. When Dart, Lavitz and Shana are fleeing from Hellena Prison on horseback, look at Dart's 3D model closely (or pause with video footage).
- Dart's addition, Madness Hero, generates the mose base SP in the game (204 SP at max level).
- Dart is the only known character to wield two Dragoon Spirits. This theme is reminiscent of other "leader" types as displayed in productions such as Power Rangers (Tommy), and Avatar (Jake Sully).
- Dart was going to be in Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale as DLC alongside Abe from the Oddworld series. Character artist Mike Edwards even created a 3D model for the game, but the plans were canceled.
- Originally, Dart's sword did not have a red hilt. It looked a bit different overall, and is still present and used in the game. Watch closely during his transformation sequence at the end of the game.
