Seles is a small village in Southern Serdio. It is the hometown of Shana, and the town Dart spends the rest of his childhood in after his original hometown, Neet, was destroyed by the Black Monster. Seles is nearly destroyed in the beginning of the game when Sandoran soldiers, being led by a Hooded Man, attack and raid the village in search of Shana. A majority of the buildings are burned down and destroyed, the survivors forced to live in ruins of their old homes. This is the Seles Dart returns to after being gone on a journey for five years.

Story

After a close call with two soldiers and a dragon on the road, Dart returns to find his village completely destroyed. He arrives only a little bit too late, as the buildings are still ablaze, and a few of the soldiers who attacked the village remain on the outskirts of town. He at least arrives in time to save a villager from being slaughtered by two soldiers. Dart rushes to him after defeating the soldiers, and he mutters that only Dart can save Shana before passing away. Further in town, Dart comes across a survivor, his friend Plos. Plos clarifies the situation with Shana, saying she was taken away and the main reason the village was attacked. Dart doesn't have much time to digest this information before the Commander shows up. The Commander reveals that Shana has been taken to Hellena Prison, then charges forward to attack Dart. After defeating him, Dart lets Plos know that he'll be back with Shana. Dart finds a few more survivors. Among them is his old sword master Tasman. Tasman challenges Dart, wanting to ensure his old pupil is strong enough to take on Hellena. This battle is optional and only serves as a tutorial.Dart then sets out on his new quest to rescue Shana.
