Combat

Virage has three parts each with their own stats, and they act independently of each other, which can produce the illusion that Virage gets multiple turns in a row. The body only acts on its fourth turn and every third turn thereafter while the head can choose not to do anything on any given turn. Only the arm is guaranteed to act. Each part can be defeated separately, but to win the battle, only the head needs to be defeated. However, the body is able to use an attack that inflicts one of several status ailments to the entire party, so defeating it is recommended. It is possible to defeat the body before it ever gets a chance to act. Another enemy inside Volcano Villude, the Fire Spirit, has a chance to drop an accessory called Spirit Cloak, which reduces the chance of being affected by Virage's status attack by 20%.

Traits

Bosses often possess passive effects which modify standard battle mechanics. None of these are given official names, so the community used approximate names.

Abilities

Boss behavior often changes from player input as most of them use "if → then" rules. Conditions are criteria that must be met in order for a Boss to take a particular action. With multiple eligible actions, the Boss selects one at random. Below are some key terms that appear frequently, so are defined here for brevity.
Auto - Found under the Conditions column, this means the Action will be used on the enemy’s next turn if the other conditions are met.
Ignore Turn Order - Usually paired with the Retaliate action, this means the current values which determine turn order do not change from this action being taken.

In the Valley of Corrupted Gravity, the entire Virage appears to act as a single unit, sometimes producing the illusion that it gets multiple turns in a row. In many cases, such as with the Right Arm's Sweeping Laser, it appears to be the Head that is performing the action, but for the purpose of turn order, it is in fact the body part indicated by the following table that is performing the action.

Valley of Corrupted Gravity
