(+Updated the article in general. +Removed formatting on the table that prevented it from expanding further. +Removed an abbrev that doubles as a slur. +Removed data for the Japanese version of the game. If we want to include that data, I'd prefer it be in a separate article like "Enemies (Japanese version)" to prevent confusion. I understand this would cut the ease of comparing info between the two versions, but that could easily get its own page. +Corrected hp value)

'''Rare Monsters''', as the game developers call them, are a set of enemies encountered throughout Endiness. Unlike most mobs, these creatures require a specific approach to combat. They share a few common traits; for example, each of them has low HP, but take 0 or 1 damage from specific damage types. Their physical attacks deal 10% of their target's max HP as damage. They all have a high probability of running from battle. Each foe can have different abilities, such as attack barriers. Rewards for defeating these enemies vary greatly from gold, experience, or powerful items.

Rare Monsters are Minor Enemies who appear in random battles but are immune to Instant Death. They possess several traits which make them unique compared to typical Enemies:

  • Each has only 4 to 6 HP, but possess a special resistance that reduces most damage to 1.
  • Their attacks deal 10% of their target's max HP as physical damage. This uses a different formula than standard attacks which bypasses stats like defense, and is only affected by the modifiers for Guarding and if the target has Fear.
  • Even at full health they have a chance to "Run away!"
  • Rewards for defeating these enemies are typically much greater than those of normally encountered enemies.

Traits that set Rare Monsters apart from one another are described in their own pages.

For powerful enemies immune to all status effects, encountered through scripted events, and can only be confronted once, see Bosses.
For enemies who appear exclusively within a Boss encounter, see Boss Minions.
