'''Rare Monsters''', as the game developers call them, are a set of enemies encountered in battle throughout Endiness. Unlike most minor mobs, these creatures require a specific approach to combat. They share a few common traits: for example, each of them has low HP and their physical attacks deal 10% of their target's max HP as damage. They all have a high probability of running from battle as well. However, each foe can have different abilities as well as varying high-value rewards for defeating them.

Rare Monsters are Minor Enemies who appear in random battles but possess special resistances to damage. They possess several traits which make them unique compared to typical Enemies:

  • Each has only 4 to 6 HP, but possess a special resistance that reduces most damage to 1.
  • Their attacks deal 10% of their target's max HP as physical damage. This uses a different formula than standard attacks which bypasses stats like defense, and is only affected by the modifiers "Guarding" and "target has Fear."
  • Even at full health they have a chance to "Run away!"
  • They are immune to the Instant Death effect.
  • Rewards for defeating these enemies are typically much greater than those of normally encountered enemies.

Traits that set Rare Monsters apart from one another are described in their own pages.

For powerful enemies immune to all status ailments, encountered only once through scripted events, and carry enough narrative weight to standout from typical enemies, see Bosses.
For enemies who appear in Boss encounters but are neither Minor Enemies nor Bosses, see Boss Extras.

This sortable table will arrange all the entries in cells in any column alphabetically and numerically. Click to toggle listing from highest to lowest.
