Greetings everyone! Drew here. I have quite a special announcement today. For the past few weeks I’ve been talking about Dragoon Fest – an ongoing celebration of LoD’s 25th anniversary. As part of the festivities, I promised new reveals over the winter season. This next one may hit hard; I recommend having tissues on-hand.
It is my honor to present heartfelt messages from members of the original development team! They are happy to know that so many people enjoy Legend of Dragoon, and some of them reached out to share words with all of us. I have worked secretly with our volunteer translators in the community, so we can present the messages in English. Thanks to Char, Manslapper, and Reji.
Messages from LoD Developers
Note: Some developers chose to speak anonymously.
“My name is Takafumi Shindo, worked as a 3D artist creating real time 3D models and motions of enemies. I’m very glad that you have enjoyed the game!”
“I was in charge of the boss effects in Legend of Dragoon. 25 years has passed in the blink of an eye but I’m happy that I was involved with such a beloved game! I hope you remember not only the main characters, but the bosses such as the Virage and Melbu Frahma as well!” (Art/T)
“Hello~
Happy 25th anniversary of LOD~
And today, 12/3, is the 30th anniversary of the first Playstation!
Sounds like Mr. Yoshi-P is finally leaving the company.”
“It makes me so happy that there are people who hold such fondness for LoD still to this day.” Anonymous Design Team Member
“Hard to believe it’s already been a quarter of a century! Thank you for loving it for so long.” Kazuki Hayashitani, Effect Designer
“I thought these were for a backdrop but turned out to be a 2-frame animation.
If I remember correctly, it would even turn toward the player.”
**Referring to the large bird in Lohan’s upper levels. The image where it faces the player doesn’t seem to be in the game, but they sent us a gif with that shot.
“Hello. I was in charge of the character models for the posters. For Lloyd’s standing pose, I tried to give him the same sort of vibe as Char Aznable’s stance from Mobile Suit Gundam. Even looking at it now, I still think it’s cool. Happy 25th anniversary.”
That’s all of the messages thus far. I hope yall enjoyed reading them! There will be more reveals here at legendofdragoon.org in the coming weeks, as Dragoon Fest continues.
Happy Holidays!
