General Update – August 2024

Hello everyone! It has been a few months since our last update, so let’s get yall caught up on a few things.

Severed Chains

For those who don’t know, Severed Chains is a community-built PC port with various quality-of-life updates and bugfixes – which doubles as an expanded modding platform. We’ve reached the one-year mark since the last Recommended Build was released – wow! There’s a ton of great stuff coming in Recommended Build 3, and the wait will have been absolutely worth it because this release is a massive improvement over RB2. Right now it’s in the bugfixing phase, and we’ll share more info soon.

Modding

Although the modding API isn’t being expanded until RB4, that hasn’t stopped folks from creating cool new mods in the meantime. Whether it’s changing the combat difficulty, adjusting battle rewards, or a big randomizer. With the release of RB3 there will be a handful of fresh mods for your enjoyment! We’ll talk more about mods later this month. Also: here’s a totally-not-related reminder that Weapon Modding is coming at some point:

Fan Works

As always, LoD fans are making cool stuff. Alongside the aforementioned mods, there’s always a bit of fan art, music, and stuff like that trickling in over time. Check out this month’s featured fan works:

Fan Art – Miranda, by Mozsaic

Another impressive work by Mozsaic, this depiction of Miranda is pretty darn cool. It looks just like her! Also note the incredibly long bow, and the two arrows held perpendicular.

Fan Music – Warrior Rose, by Tesonael

There are many ways to create fan music. One could go for some type of remix, a cover, or an arrangement. However, original songs are pretty darn rare when it comes to Legend of Dragoon. Out of nowhere, I saw Tesonael drop this track in the community Discord server. I gave it a listen, and really enjoyed the rhythm. It’s got good lyrics too, which you can use to read or sing along while the track plays.
