From the LoD community council:

When we play games, we often use them a fun escape separate from the real world. Unfortunately, sometimes the real world gets dark enough that we have to talk about it. Right now, that’s the US presidential election. For LoD fans in the US and abroad, however you voted, let’s recall the key lesson Legend of Dragoon has taught us.

Behind the overt narrative of the main plot, LoD is a story about people living in harmony despite their differences in race, personality, or goals. It’s about the acceptance of diversity, and teaches that once embraced the world becomes a better place with everyone getting along. This is an inherently political viewpoint, as there are those who do not believe others should be free to be themselves or love who they want to love.

As a community we have always supported marginalized groups, and many contributions to the fandom have come from members of those groups. The extra lore from the Japanese Guidebook, the unearthed official artwork, Severed Chains, Dragoon Modifier, countless fanart/music, and even this website itself are key examples. Without them, our fandom would be a dimmer place.

With the conclusion of the US electing a president who seeks to criminalize non-conformists, we want to state clearly: we are here, and we are not going away. We’ll continue to provide an inclusive, welcoming space. We’ll also continue to make awesome contributions to help yall enjoy LoD for years to come via our assorted events, community projects, and other services. To that end, we have a big announcement in a few days – be stoked.

To the entire queer and trans umbrella: you are welcome, and you belong here. Stay safe, do what you can, and work together.

We are the Dragoons!! We are ready to fight against fate!!
