Lavitz is the head of the First Knighthood in the Kingdom of Basil. Growing up in Bale, Lavitz serves as one of the king's most trusted knights. He is loyal to his country and compassionate towards its people, even those from enemy territory. His blonde fringe haircut is paired with heavy-set brows that frame his blue-grey eyes.

Story

Chapter 1: Serdian War
After Dart leaves the burning rubble of Seles, he crosses a Forest and enters Hellena Prison to rescue his childhood friend, Shana. As Dart crosses the wooden bridge and enters the second pillar of Helena Prison, he comes across a Hellena Warden harassing two Knights of Basil. Just as the wardens begin to answer the goading knights with greater violence, a warden from down the hall is thrown dead on the ground. A knight in green cloth and silver armor enters the scene spinning a lance, prepared to engage the next two wardens. The knights greet the new comer as "Sir Lavitz". Lavitz and Dart defeat the guards together. As Dart explains that he must first rescue someone, Lavitz agrees to aid in the rescue before they leave despite the fact that Lavitz is the lone survivor of his platoon and has important information to share with his king. Dart quickly respects Lavitz for his straightforward trust and they are able to successfully find Shana. When Shana agrees to fight alongside them, Lavitz accepts her strength for surviving Hellena and offering her bow. The protagonists then fight their way back to the front gates of the prison where they confront head warden Fruegel for the first time. Dart's party flee before Fruegal can be fully defeated, as reinforcements were incoming. They narrowly escape, lunging from a nearly closed bridge on horseback to flee the island. Guards hot on their trail, Lavitz follows Dart and Shana into the twisting and turning Prairie path.

By Fruegal's command, the wardens hunt the band of heroes into the prairie. Hurtling down the curving paths, Lavitz's leg is lacerated by an arrow strike. Dart, Shana, and Lavitz dash behind a tree to shake off the wardens on their heel. The opportunity to rest and consider next steps was now. The group shelter at a rural farm to tend to Lavitz's now limping leg and consider the fastest route to get Lavitz to Indels Castle in Bale. During this time, Dart shares of his 5 years hunting The Black Monster due to the burning of Neet. Lavitz informs Dart and Shana about the current condition of the civil war of their nation of Serdio. The Kingdom of Basil is at war with the Imperial Sandora. Laviz must inform the king that Emperor Doel now has the power of Dragons, a previously mythical creature. Dart confirms his earlier experience with a dragon. While Lavitz reports about the warfront, the knight agrees that Dart may speak with Minister Noish about The Black Monster. Restored, the group continue towards the castle.

While on their way to Limestone Cave, the group finds a family of three sitting on the path. If Dart approaches the family, the father confronts Lavitz for destroying their lives and forcing them to flee Sandora. As the wife pleads for forgiveness, Lavitz assures that the family are welcome to Basil and will be treated with compassion for their suffering. The family are surprised to find such kindness from an enemy knight, and are further surprised when Lavitz offers the child food and suggests that the family stay with his mother in Bale. After this interaction, it is possible to see the family in Lavitz's house later on in the game.

Inside of Limestone Cave, the heroes must fight many poisonous and confusing creatures before they meet the end of the cavern. Just as the light of the exit is in view, a loud hiss resounds in the cave, once, then twice. The heroes draw their weapons and are rushed by the guardian of the cave, Urobolus. Dart deals the final blow, sending the large creature sprawling on the cavern floor. As the team continue past the serpentine monster, the beast raises one final time to ambush Shana. Dart and Lavitz are too slow to intercept. Shana turns to the creature. A light emanates from her forehead and illuminates the cave, which burns away Urobolus. Lavitz and Dart watch on with shock. No one can offer an explanation, but are glad that Shana is unharmed. The party continues towards Bale. The Capital of Basil is the first true city that the party encounters with shops, an inn, a clinic, and interactable npcs. The townsfolk, when not commenting on the war, will remark delightedly about Lavitz's safe return. The Portraitist Girl at the first house entering the town will paint a head and shoulder portrait of Lavitz that is a receivable item. Continuing to the right half of town, the party will enter Slambert Plaza, dedicated to Lavitz's father, Servi Slambert. By talking to all of the individuals in the town plaza, it can be learned that Servi was killed by a close friend named Greham and that Lavitz is resentful towards this man. Greham now services in the army of Imperial Sandora.

Inside of Indels Castle, the party kneel before King Albert, who greets them warmly, as he was greatly concerned about Lavitz's disappearance. The knight reports that his battalion was destroyed and he was the sole survivor, being captured and placed in Hellena Prison. The king is greatly appreciative of Shana and Dart's assistance in rescuing Lavitz, but cannot agree to Dart's request for Shana to stay at the castle, as the fort at Hoax cannot stop a dragon with flight abilities, making the castle a possible target. As Dart and Shana excuse themselves to consider their next steps, Lavitz and Albert discuss the war effort privately. When the party regroups at the castle balcony, Lavitz updates Dart and Shana that most of the people of Seles had survived the Sandoran attack. He also goes on to say that the dragon will be used against Hoax, and that he must leave to fight it. Dart and Shana resolve to end the war against Sandora to prevent further casualties and agree to join Lavitz on the front lines. Lavitz suggests that they go to the weapons shop in Bale and stop by his mother's place, adding- flustered yet delightedly- that she would be happy to have guests.

The meeting with Lavitz's mother is initially chaotic, as the party members scramble to shut Dart up about Hellena Prison and then clarify whom Shana is married to out of Dart and Lavitz. Introductions made, Dart and Lavitz take a tour of the house while Shana assist's Lavitz's mother in making lunch. Lavitz explains each room as Dart enters, from the height chart marks in Lavitz's room, to the additional odds and ends in the storage room, to finally the library with strategy books and a path to a secret "treasure." Climbing up the step ladder to the window, Lavitz and Dart sit on the roof, which has a beautiful view of Indels Castle. They sympathize on Lavitz's difficult role as a knight and Dart's role in protecting Shana during the war. Then Shana calls them, and they come down to eat. The party prepares to leave after their meal, but as his mother continues to fuss, Lavitz agrees that they will sleep at the house for the night. Though he declined any at first, when Shana and Dart leave upstairs, Lavitz also requests the jerky that his mother offered him to take with. She rushes to the kitchen eagerly, finishing all necessary preparations before the adventurer's journey to Hoax.

Just before the party exit Basil, a hurried woman named Martel runs into them, crashing into Dart. The party will eventually learn about the woman's interest in stardust, but for now, they scratch their heads and continue on to the battlefront.

At Hoax, the party walks to the back of the fortified town and Lavitz introduces the party to Kaiser of the Eighth Knighthood cordially. They briefly lament on the loss of Lavitz's knights, which Lavitz blames on himself, then resolve to end the war so that their deaths not be in vain. Kaiser informs the party that Hoax is currently fortifying against a possible Sandoran attack and are watching for the dragon's movements. Lavitz and Dart are assigned to nightwatch as Shana is assigned to cooking duty, which Lavitz has concerns about. He reluctantly admits that Shana's cooking may be edible, which shocks Shana, who had been complimented on her cooking by his mother. The men attempt to comfort Shana, saying that flavor doesn't matter, which backfires- Shana pouts and stomps. As Kaiser and Lavitz stay behind to discuss battle plan details, Lavitz instructs Dart to get along with Shana and to explore the town. When the party regroups, Dart and Lavitz begin guard duty on the wall.

Owls call as Lavitz and Dart watch the Hoax boarder. Dart says that the owls hooting was a sign that no one was in the woods. Dart takes the opportunity to go downstairs to grab some food, which Lavitz believes is Dart wanting to visit Shana. Before Dart can make it down the stairs, the owls stop hooting and fly away quickly. Shortly after, there is a barrage of arrows on the fort. Dart and Lavitz rush downstairs and confront Sandoran soldiers, a quickfooted Sandora Elite, and a giganto. When the battle heats up, Kongol puts his axe aside and punches and throws Dart and Lavitz. Just as the giganto was about to coup de grace Dart, who was prone on the ground, a purple dragoon knight descends from the sky and parries Kongol aside. She calls upon the Red-Eyed Dragoon within Dart. He also transforms into a draconic knight and blasts Kongol with a strong enough fire to throw him off his feet. The Sandoran troops defeated, Kongol flees and Dart drops his transformation and passes out, relieved to see Shana approaching him, safe.

The party crowd around Dart's bed and are relieved when he awakens. Dart then introduces Rose, a woman who saved Dart from a dragon while he was on his way to Seles. She explains that she followed Dart all this way because he had a dragoon spirit, an artefact of fate, which offers the user dominion over dragons. Lavitz questions how Rose knows of such legendary information, but Rose refuses to say, only commenting that it's better to know than not know. She also shares that Lavitz, Dart, and Shana remind Rose of her previous friends, who are now gone. A knight then interrupts their conversation to hurriedly report to Lavitz that Sandora is attacking The Seventh Fort, which is past the Marshland and Volcano Villude. Kaiser comments that this is no ordinary battle as it includes giganto and dragons, which encourages Rose to join the party as a dragoon, evening their odds. The group of four leave the charred but intact village and march for the mountains, resolving to destroy the dragon Feyrbrand once and for all.

At the Marshland, the war is raging. Past the initial sprawl of tree roots and marsh, Sandoran and Basil soldiers engage in combat at the fort, which Dart and company have the option to assist with or flee. With the Commander defeated, the party pick their way over the dead mournfully. The Head of the 10th Knighthood struggles against death enough to warn Lavitz against the dragon's breath and give him a Wargod's Amulet. Lavitz swears revenge for his death. The surrounding soldiers appear to be poisoned to death.

The group press on to Volcano Villude. After only a few steps into the rocky terrain, the earth shakes. Lavitz cries that a volcano must be erupting, which Rose corrects as a Fire Bird. They watch it from the horizon as it grows bigger, approaching closer and closer. Dart orders for them to flee, as the beast had spotted them. The sky burns as they escape into the caves. In a magma field, Shana begins to hear something calling to her. She runs to a magma pool to a partially buried Virage, a Dragon Campaign weapon from 11,000 years ago, which is still alive. The Virage awakens to attack the dragoons. The party then save a merchant hanging from a cliff by the name of Dabas, who mentions that he's seeking an artifact. After the party are confronted by the Fire Bird, who erupts from a pool of magma, Dabas can be found farther along the path and will sell the party restorative items.

Past the volcanic wastes, the party enter the marsh territory of the Dragon's Nest, which is contaminated by the dragon's poison. Lavitz comments on Shana's shortness of breath as her feminine frailty, which Rose briefly scolds before dropping. Shana rushes deeper into the woods to find a grove to rest in. Restored, she rejoins the party, apologizing as Dart warns her to not run off anymore. Lavitz and Rose shake their heads at the younger pair's puppy love and walk after them. As they combat the creatures in the area, the group falls through a web, hiding a hole in the ground, and accidentally descend to the dragon's lair. They climb the organic stalagmites and eventually find Greham, siting on a webbed throne at the heart of the nest. Lavitz angrily confronts the ex-Second Knighthood commander, for the betrayal of his father and country. Greham coolly wields the Jade dragoon, which he informs the party he learned through Doel, who was guided by the legendary Emperor Diaz of the Dragon Campaign. Greham then calls upon Feyrbrand to attack the party. Once defeated, Lavitz asks Greham gently why he had betrayed his father. Greham admits that he felt weaker and lesser than Servi, which encouraged him to defect to Doel's side when offered a dragoon spirit. With Greham's death, the Jade dragoon spirit glows and hovers before Lavitz, choosing him as the next Jade dragoon, which is a fate he accepts. Shortly their moment of mourning and celebration, Shana, the only non-dragoon, is overcome by the dragon's poison. The party quickly leave for Lohan, where Lavitz is aware of a great doctor.

Abilities

All Dragoons can use either their D'Attack or Magic during combat. For an in depth explanation of Dragoon Additions including damage formulas, see: D'Attack. Similarly, Dragoon Magic covers the damage formula for spells.
Note: The "STR %" shown when selecting spells in game is not used in the damage calculation. Instead they could be used to gauge the strength of spells in relation to one another for that specific character, but some of the values contain errors and so generally cannot be considered reliable. The Multiplier value for the spells below is the actual variable used in the damage calculation.

Jade Dragon DS Multiplier Target Effect Cost Acquisition
Wing Blaster 100 All Enemies Inflicts  Wind -elemental magic damage. 20 Initial
*Blossom Storm - All Allies Halves *most incoming damage to each target. This effect persists for a target until they take 3 turns and is not removed upon death. Despite the graphical appearance, this effect still applies to allies whose HP is 0 and will be present if they are resurrected. 20 D'level 2
Gaspless 300 Single Enemy Inflicts  Wind -elemental magic damage. 30 D'level 3
Jade Dragon 300 All Enemies Inflicts  Wind -elemental magic damage. 80 D'level 5
  • 1: Despite the name of the spell being "Blossom Storm" in the Status menu, when unlocking it initially, and when selecting it with the Magic command, the voice line clearly says, "Rose Storm." When Albert inherits the Dragoon Spirit, the name in the Status menu and Magic command switch to "Rose Storm." As the graphics for these two spells does differ (Lavitz's version shows pink petals reminiscent of cherry blossoms, while Albert's clearly show red roses,) it is plausible that the voice line is in error.
  • 2: Blossom Storm halves incoming damage by enabling the Power Up variable multiplier for party members when enemy damage calculation occurs. This can be observed in game as the item Power Up and Blossom Storm do not stack. Additionally, attacks which do not include the Power Up state in their damage calculations such as any Rare Monster's Rare Attack and Ghost Commander's Haunting Bolt completely ignore Blossom Storm.
