Hello, and happy Saturday! It’s spook month. Drew here with updates on what the community has been up to lately. Short version in bold text.

** Volunteers wanted: fan art, fan music, wiki editing, and more. Please visit our Discord server and get involved – no skill required for some projects. Or donate to help things move faster!

Let’s start with the ever-hot question: When will the third stable release of the Severed Chains PC port be ready? In short, ASAP. The initial projection was summer 2024, but the team needs more time to finish. We generally avoid specific dates since it largely depends on free time, how much code ends up needing to be refactored, and how many bugs come up. It’ll definitely arrive this year, and some additional improvements have been added to sweeten the pot. To help speed up the process for SC specifically, Monoxide does accept donations through his Ko-fi page for SC. And if you dunno what SC is yet, check out the project page for a fast summary.

We’ve also made progress with the in-house wiki. I’ve been training new volunteers and there’s a ton of progress on two articles: Hellena Prison and Jiango. Big thanks to Emerald Dragoon and Humi as recent wiki volunteers. These two articles are prototypes for an automated layout, making it much easier to edit articles and keep their appearance consistent. So far we’re very happy with the results! The goal is to finish these prototypes in less than a week, so we can convert all existing articles to this format. We expect to have the wiki ready for general use sometime this winter.

Next up, I’m happy to mention that Music Mix 2 is officially happening. The first one, themed around Feelings, was quite well received! This time around, fan musicians are focusing on character themes. It’s pretty cool, because a few entrants elected to create original themes for characters who don’t have them: Miranda and Haschel. If you’re a fan musician and want to participate, you still have time to whip something together. There are about five days left before the soft deadline to submit a track. Please join the Discord server, enter the Music Mix 2 channel, and claim any character that isn’t taken already. We might do something for Halloween as well depending on availability, so mosey over to that thread if you’d like to do something spooky instead.

How many of you remember that we have a podcast? We published an episode this past March where our guest host sounded just like Supernatural’s Castiel! A few months after that, Spotify sent a notice that we would need to migrate away from their in-house “Anchor” platform to a regular Spotify account. I thought our account migrated successfully, but something went wrong and our podcast appeared to be delisted.

I reached out to tech support, and it’s fixed now thanks to a legendary tech named Crystal. We’re back online, and frankly overdue for the next episode. I think we’ll do something spooky in a few weeks where we talk about the horror elements in Legend of Dragoon. Where are my fellow enjoyers of Zackwell, undead Lavitz, and the creepy-but-vague Monster?

Speaking of which, we have a Halloween art event coming up. Check out this thread if you’re an artist looking for something to draw or a fan eager to see new artwork. There are also plans for a winter event, but we’ll talk more about that later.

That’s it for today. Thank you all for reading! I hope you look forward to more & more rad LoD stuff in the works.
