Help comes in many forms! Much of the help we need revolves around completing tasks; some of which are connected to community projects. Sometimes we need other kinds of help, like filling roles.

No skills? No problem. Many of the things we benefit from now came from people who started with little to no skill. It’s just a matter of channeling your passion. 15 minutes can make a world of difference.

To help out, pick a task from the list below and let us know in the #volunteer-tasks channel of the LoD Discord server. Tasks that are part of a community project are linked in orange. Your point contact for most tasks will be DrewUniverse.

If you find yourself with more spare money than time or skill, donations are just as helpful. Funding priority is as follows:

• Web server. This includes our website, wiki, Ruffbot, and a project soon to be revealed.
• Archival purchases. Rare promotional items, merchandise, and knowledge (i.e. JP magazines)
• Increased speed of general updates/services/etc.

Fan Zine
Short for fan-magazine, this project aims to collect a list of contributors who create new fanart, prose, and merch. It’s like a little artbook, but with written works too! Currently seeking fan artists and writers.

Website (You Are Here)

Dark Theme (custom code)
We currently use a free Dark Theme plugin. We can’t control the color scheme, and it’s got a ton of bloat. A recent update caused it to make our website look pretty bad as well. A slim, purpose-built custom CSS or JS solution would be ideal. The CMS we use is WordPress.

Petition Framework (move from Civist Plugin)
Similar to the above, we currently use a plugin to handle petition signatures. We’d like to switch to a simple in-house form which feeds into a spreadsheet. As a stretch goal, we’d still like to expose the signature count with a view similar to what shows now.

Translation

Japanese Guidebook
The walkthrough section is the current focus, now that the other sections are essentially complete. It’s about 300 pages long, with 40 pages translated and all remaining pages transcribed. We seek bilingual folks who can translated the transcribed Japanese characters into English.

Taiwanese-Mandarin Guidebook
The full book is in need of translation, save for the interview portion. We seek bilingual folks who can translate the full book into English, starting with lore segments. Some of the book’s content is written in Japanese, so for those segments we just want to ensure there are no discrepancies compared to the corresponding names/facts in the Japanese Guidebook.

Knowledgebase

Wiki
Knowledgebase for all canonical information about Legend of Dragoon. This includes information sourced from the game itself, as well as verified external sources like the Japanese Guidebook or even a rare fact published in a random magazine. The wiki is quite far along at this point, but we still need help in the areas of: story writing, coding, template design, and theme design.

PC Port & Mods

Severed Chains
Legend of Dragoon fan port for PC & SteamDeck. Needs change over time – check with Monoxide in the #severed-chains channel of the LoD Discord server.

The modding scene is growing! Check the #modding section to assist current projects, bring a paper concept to life, or build your own mod idea.

Preservation

Generally, we’re trying to preserve everything there is to know or experience about LoD. This includes obtaining at least one copy of every known piece of merchandise and promotional material. If you find a valid shop listing for any item listed below, please post in #preservation on the LoD Discord and tag DrewUniverse in that message.

• Rose T-Shirt – the only shirt variant we don’t have a copy of. Incredibly rare.
• Phone card set Complete-In-Box (we have three card variants. However we have no boxes, serial tags, or button pins)
• Padfolio – small notebook. Only known online mentions are the old official website, and this post on GiantBomb.
